Today is Wednesday, the 9 day of Tim’s tour.

Tim heads for Leavenworth, Kansas, most notable for its renowned penitentiary. However, there are better places to visit, such as the authentic Irish Pub that Tim will habitats for a few hours. Marfield’s Irish Pub has roots that began back in 1889. The building at 312 N 2nd Street originally served as a carriage house for the Ward Mansion. A portion of the building was torn down and in 1910 the building standing today was converted into a neighborhood tavern. When Esplanade Tavern opened its “doors” it was necessary to provide two separate entrances, one for the non-drinking patrons and one for the imbibers. It must be a “Kanasa” thing.

Richard and Margaret Dubac took over in 1940 and operated a successful, well known, family business until 1981. The Dubac’s influence can still be felt here today. The chef is still using their house dressing, and the customers continue coming back for it. The place became Irish in 2001, completely remodeled with special touches everywhere. The handcrafted bar, copper table tops, and unique wall décor has enticed a new generation to eat, drink, and be merry within these walls. Irish Pub Grub is on the menu along with the fun and lively atmosphere that anything Irish brings with it. Sadly, there are only pictures of food for Marfield’s, so we can’t show you what the building and bar looks like.

Call if you want to know when Tim will be there.

    On to Dallas, Texas.

This a state so big, and a city so important, that Tim is spending the night here and visiting not one, but two Irish pubs. Now, you might think that this chronicler of Tim’s trek has been sampling the wares and now seeing double, but such is not the case. According to my tracking sheet, Tim is visiting the Trinity Irish Pub tonight and the Trinity Irish Pub tomorrow…but they are on different streets. One on Henderson and one on Mockingbird. For those of you keeping score out there, the 2409 Henderson address in Dallas attaches to place called “The Skellig”

    The Skellig

OK, that is Irish, since a Skellig is “a steep rock in the sea.” The photo attached is NOT the pub in Dallas, but a real Skellig. This is Skellig Michael, so named because a group of really dedicated Irish monks actually build a monastery somewhere on those cliffs back in the Middle Ages and dedicated it to Michael the Archangel…who was probably Irish, too.

The Skellig in Dallas, serves up gin-marinated salmon and ice brewed Irish coffee…that also very Gaelic. So, check them out to see if Tim is there tonight. If I have the wrong name or address, just pretend you are making a prank call…Hey, you got Prince Albert in a can?

    Never mind...

    The Future is Now.

Wall Street as an interesting way of avoiding such terms as Dive, Crash, Error or just plain Wrong.

    They call it a correction.

In that same spirit, we are invoking a “correction” to Tim Herlihy’s Irish Pub Tour. On his itinerary for Wednesday and Thursday he has two pubs in Dallas, Texas listed. Both were named Trinity and they each had separate addresses. In the last posting the address of one is actually an Irish Pub called Skellig.

Probably a great place, but Tim may not be there. We still have not figured out the name and address problem.

    However:

Actually, tomorrow will be today. The Trinity Hall Irish Pub listed for tomorrow is actually where Tim will be tonight at 7:30 Central Time.

    Trinity Hall

Actually, it is an event for Whiskey tasting and Tim will be doing the honors, pouring four “expressions” of Tullamore DEW Irish Whiskey for those who have signed up for the event.

Contact the pub now to get in on it all.
