Ah! Faith and Begorra!
American Bars welcomes you back for the next rounds of Tim Herlihy’s pub adventure. The weekend has arrived and all you who have been simply tracking dear Timothy’s trek thus far now have little excuse not to come out and see him if you are in range of one of the Irish pubs he will be attending the next two days.
Here is Saturday’s Agenda —
Now remember, Tim is up Alaska and flying down. He will hit the lower 48 and directly go to Idaho.
Saturday, February 20th Tim will hit Idaho first with a stop in Boise at Ha’Penny Bridge Pub.

Make sure to call and find out when Tim will be there.
Ireland comes to Idaho at Ha' Penny Bridge Pub. Great food, drinks and a lively pub atmosphere, they boast it is THE place to meet new people or socialize with good friends. This Irish Pub is a gathering place in BoDo which is the entertainment district located in downtown Boise, Idaho.
The Ha' Penny Bridge also boast traditional Irish recipes that are homemade, using succulent fruits, fresh vegetables and the finest ingredients for authentic traditional Irish cuisine — the perfect match for your Irish Whiskey.
What’s in a name?
The original Dublin Ha Penny Bridge opened in 1816. The bridge crosses the river Liffey in the center of Dublin. It has three lamps supported by curved ironwork over the walkway. Cast at Coalbrookdale in Shropshire, England, the bridge acquired its name from the toll paid to cross the river, which was one half penny.
American Bars hopes everyone in the Boise area can come out to visit Tim. After raising a glass at Boise, Tim dashes off to nearby Utah, alighting in Salt Lake long enough to visit Murphy’s Bar and Grill.

As always, call to see when Tim will be in attendance. When you meet him, tell him that you read about him at American Bars. He might just buy you a drink.
A traditional Irish pub, Murphy’s features great daily drink and lunch specials including, “world famous” Fish and Chips, Chili Verde, Garlic Burgers and fresh Reuben sandwiches. (obviously traditional Irish fare). Murphy’s house smokes all of their meats and poultry for specialty sandwiches and wings with a limited late menu for our late night patrons. Not only is Murphy’s the place to be seen on St. Patty’s Day, but it’s a neighborhood bar with a great atmosphere, charming servers and friendly patrons.
Why the name Murphy? Murphy is easily the commonest surname in Ireland: birth registration statistics indicate that of, a population of 4 millions, no less than approximately 55,000 are Murphy’s.
However, these are the Murphy’s of Cork, who have been as famed for their alcohol as for their priests. In 1825, James Murphy of Ringmahon, Blackrock, County Cork, a Justice of the Peace, founded with his brothers the prosperous firm of James Murphy and Company, Distillers, while in 1854, James Jeremiah Murphy of Bellevue, Passage West, County Cork, and his brothers founded the firm of James J. Murphy, Brewers of Cork. In 1867, the James Murphy company merged with the Midleton and four neighboring distillers to form Cork Distillers Ltd. In 1966, in another big merger, with Powers and Jameson’s, they became Irish Distillers Ltd., now the biggest whiskey distillers in Ireland, with headquarters at Middleton, County Cork. The Murphy family is still represented on the board. Thus, this should be an interesting meeting, considering Tim is ambassador for Irish Whiskey rival Tullamore.
Can you believe it? Tim continues onward, plunging headlong into another airport, airline and a another bar at the destination.
The next Celtic Connection is across the way in…New Mexico! Two Fools is an odd combo, an authentic Irish pub standing in the middle of Albuquerque, New Mexico. What a lovely clash of cultures! The place is called Two Fools, and yes, they are the owners. The Two Fools envisioned and executed faithfully an authentic replication of the pubs they had visited in Ireland. Much like the weather outside, the warmth is definitely here along with the charm, European feel and Irish essence. The colors, furniture, pictures on the wall, the knick knacks placed throughout ... and of course the ales, stouts, fine whiskies and the contrasting cuisine of the Emerald Isle (as opposed to the heart Mexican Food and Drink all around) is all here to enjoy. The tavern invites everyone (of legal age) to come and visit.
Yes, Tim will be here on Saturday, rubbing elbows with all that care to meet him. Call the bar for the time Tim will be there. Remember, he's on a quest!
