Day 12 of the pub tour with Tim — Kentucky and Ohio.
Molly Malone’s in St. Matthews area of Louisville is one of those rare places that serves good food beyond 10pm. Actually, they serve real great meals every night until…ready for this? 1am!
OK, here is news that tells you right away that this place is authentically Irish…they have a mezzanine area large enough to be booked for the usual Retirement and Christmas office parties and such…but among the events they promote: Wedding Rehearsals, Birthdays and BAPTISMS!! Nothing more Irish than having wee little ones being celebrated in a genuine Irish pub…probably along with the parish priest…whose name is probably Father Terence Michael Patrick O’Malley.
Ah, Faith and Begorra!
This probably why Molly Malone’s now sports three locations in the region.
And they even have a grand easy phone number to remember so you can call about Tim’s visit —

Yes, the bar is named after a fellow whose name is Happy. No, I will not paste in a joke about other dwarves or Snow White.
As one customer put it: “Where else can you go where you run into everyone you've ever known? And become friends with people you’ve never known.”
Another brought it in succinctly: “Hap’s is hands down the best bar in the area. It's cheap, it's fun, there are darts and a juke box, and everyone knows the bartenders. I have some great memories here and I recommend it to everyone.
No higher praise than that!
Tim will agree when he attends here.
Oh yes, they also have a very quirky clientele. Take a gander at that smokin’ band playing on the sidewalk outside of Hap’s. Yes, I believe they are Shriners.
Call, as always to know when Tim will be holding the bar down.
Final Stop for the day — Nashville, Tennessee.
If Elvis were looking for a local, authentic Irish bar, this is where you would find him. Yes, the exterior looks like a classic funeral home, but the interior is all pub. Besides, if it was originally a funeral home, the Irish spirits are there to watch over you!
McNamara’s was established by Irish musician, Sean McNamara. After years of playing at other Nashville Irish bars and restaurants, he decided to open his own Irish pub and restaurant dedicated to providing locals and visitors with authentic Irish fare, drinks, music, and great service. He still performs regularly at his place.
The primary goal is to provide a true experience that fits most Americans idea of what an Irish pub should be like; but is also so genuine that a person living in, or visiting America, can walk inside and feel like they are back home in Ireland.
From live music, to a menu comprised of classic "Pub" fare, to a decor featuring historical photographs, Gaelic sports memorabilia, Irish music albums and instruments, and tin "Pub" signs. McNamara's is dedicated to providing patrons with the hospitality, service, and ambiance found throughout Ireland.
