They are some of the best part of the culture: German Sausages. There are 42 varieties from Ahle Wurst to Westfälische Rinderwurst. It is all delicious. However, it increasingly appears that this tantalizing Teutonic standard may be vanishing from the Fatherland landscape. An increasing number of public canteens, child daycare centers and schools have stopped serving sausages, bacon and ham over Islamic religious considerations.
Yes, members of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU party are allegedly fighting to keep pork on the menu, insisting the consumption of pork is part of German culture. But, like the tsunami of Islamists flooding the country, political correctness is besting tradition and history.
The move is likely to cause increased tensions among residents who support the inflow of refugees to the country and those now demanding restrictions.
Having initially been hailed by liberals worldwide for her leadership in offering sanctuary to nearly 1.1million refugees fleeing war and persecution in Syria, the German supremo now faces growing calls for deportation of disruptive Islamic groups, stricter immigration rules, and for her ouster altogether.
German sausages are part of the country’s culture. At Oktoberfest in Munich, the largest beer festival in the world - sausages are served alongside steins of beer.
Oh, and did we mention that alcohol is also forbidden in the Islamic religion?
