On the news one continually hears about things happening off-shore, how things that used to be invented here are being not only invented but perfected elsewhere because of government intrusion, regulation, retrictions, taxes and much more. Here at American Bars, we are constantly in the search for new innovations occurring here. Yet, our news feed continually reaches beyond our borders because obvious innovation that one expects here is often starting elsewhere. Case in Point:

Something that seems a logical progression here is flourishing Down Under…and will probably come here soon.

In Melbourne, Australian, they have a place called the Asian Beer Cafe. What makes them really stand out these days is that they opened a 12 cocktail tap station, which allows bartenders to pour cocktails "just as fast as a beer from the tap”. Granted, it does not offer the visual enjoyment of a bartender mixing up an elixir just for you, but when you have a bar full of thirsty patrons, the service has to move swiftly to accommodate.

The Asian Beer Cafe is part of the Retail Savvy Group, which also owns Father's Office and The Shaw Davey Slum. The Asian Beer Cafe claims having the 12 different cocktails on tap is a first of it kind on the Australian continent.

Anna Carosa, managing director of the Retail Savvy Group, said: "We constructed a special 12 cocktail tap station and now we’re able to pour cocktails just as fast as a beer from the tap, meaning much faster service, coupled with our already incredibly low priced cocktails.

Sam Hatherley, the group’s head cocktail bartender, added: "We have been practicing and perfecting the art of tapped cocktails at Father’s Office now for two years behind the scenes through the mixology of cocktail making and believe we have come as close as ever to doing just that now at our sister bar, Asian Beer Café."

Congratulations to Melbourne and the Asian Beer Cafe.  Now, American Bars is in the Los Angeles region. We want to know what new innovations are being crafted right here, right now.
