As part of our fiendish plot to take over the world, American Bars was proud to be a part of the Sixth Annual Brew HaHa Craft Beer Festival in Silverado, California on Saturday, September 12th.
The event, which was attended by approximately 6500 people, was an opportunity for event goers to sample beers from more than 90 local, regional and national breweries. It was also an opportunity for American Bars to start spreading the word. “Our main goal in attending was to spread brand awareness for American Bars and to have an opportunity to meet people and tell them what we are all about,” said Brian Smith, one of the founders of American Bars.
It also was an opportunity to meet some of the breweries and make them aware of not only having a listing on the website, but getting their beers added to the directory as well. “We have a beer directory of more than 70,000 beers and growing each day. Our goal is to by far be the most comprehensive beer directory in the world. It also helps the breweries expand their reach to a larger audience,” according to Mark Wright, a founder of American Bars.
American Bars is the largest directory of bars, taverns, pubs and breweries in the United States. In addition to having a bar directory, users can also take advantage of such features as:
Cocktail Directory of more than 1000 cocktails, many with how to make videos;
Liquor Directory of more than 1500 different brands of liquor and liqueurs;
Taxi Directory of more than 90,000 taxi listings;
Beer Directory with more than 70,000 beers;
Discussion Groups;
A Trivia Game.
American Bars is also in the process of developing an app for both Android and iOS devices which will integrate all of the features of the site. In addition, the website has been created with a very user-friendly mobile platform which is easy to use on any mobile device.
The idea of American Bars began about four years ago oddly enough in a bar. The three founders, Brian Smith, Mark Wright and Tobias Schopf realized that while there were various websites that covered specific topics, there was not a comprehensive source to where people could find everything they were looking for on one easy-to-use platform. The idea has now become a reality with American Bars.
Because of the depth of the website, American Bars is relying heavily on crowd sourcing. “We want people to feel like they are a part of something special. If they are looking for their favorite bar and it is not on the website, they can suggest it to us, we will add it and they get credit for it. The same can be done for their favorite beers, liquors and cocktails,” said Smith. One of the reasons we were out at Brew HaHa today was to get people signed up to use the website. I think we’ve created something really special. Once people find out about American Bars, start using the website and all of the features we offer, we know that they will love it.”
