Finally! I can buy a 12-pack of beer... in Pennsylvania.
Scratching your head? I was too. Turns out Pennsylvanians couldn't buy anything less than a 24-pack of beer until March of this year.
Since the repeal of Prohibition, eighty-some years ago, "retailers specializing in beer were barred from selling anything smaller than a standard twenty-four-beer case or a keg". Now, just a thought, but if you are a state that has a higher than normal alcoholism rate, wouldn't you NOT want to push your residents to purchase more beer. Am I alone on this one? You would think, if you're trying to resolve this particular issue the law would have been the other way around - you can't buy anything more than a 12-pack.
Either way, congratulations, Pennsylvania! Now let's celebrate with buying a 12'er. Cheers.
