Why is it so bad that luxury beers are making themselves known, and here to stay? Why do people hate? Personally, I think it's because most of us can't afford it. Or, maybe you could pony up the dough, but there would be a slight twitch and cringe as you hand over your hard earned $60.
Trust me, I get it. I've twitch and cringed at the purchase of an expensive brew, but that was all gone once I got home and enjoyed my well worth it $60 beer. What I don't get, is there are no complaints when it has to do with a good wine or whiskey or other liquor, but for some reason beer is supposed to be off limits to high-end? Hogwash.
I'm happy to say that, Goose Island Beer Co., feels the same way. Announcing that their, Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout, will be hitting shelves "with an MSRP of $60", Goose Island Beer Co. is not sorry about this price - and they shouldn't have to be. Needlesss to say, though, the public was not exactly happy. According to Esquire, one dude tweeted "Only $255 for a 12 oz. 6 pack. Seems like a bargain." Bitter Betty or?
Like I said, I understand the frustration, there are plenty of brews out there that I would love to get my hands on but just can't afford right now, however, that's no reason to get bent out of shape and ruin the excitement for others who are fortunate to indulge in such luxuries. So remember - Don't Hate, appreciate.
Let us know if you try this well crafted beverage. Cheers.
