As we slip into the Halloween weekend, I end this week with one of TIME's spookiest stories, according to TIME.

Not to downplay the event that took place, but you can't help but think to yourself that it's not surprising what happened to this gentleman. Sad, but not surprising. To me, the craziness of the story is the fact that it's true - it just seems so right out of the movies.

So, without further ado I give you the September 30, 1957 article that has been deemed Time's spookiest story in the history of the company.
