I love my foods and drinks in their natural form and flavor. With that said, I also like to spice things up, and try new things, too (get your minds out of the gutter - I'm talking about food and alcohol). Afterall, spices are also natural. And, not to mention, spices just seem to go a tad better with the fall and winter season - keeps you a little warmer inside, don't you think?
Being a foodie and wine lover, I'm always checking out the latest Food & Wine. So, when I came across their article on why we should be spicing up our cocktails, I knew I had to share it with the American Bars Enthusiast community - as I know all you have good taste and are just as adventurous as I.
The article features a drink created by New York bartender, Darryl Chan, head bartender at Bar Pleiades. Being a "spice enthusiast", he wanted to incorporate more spices into his mixology. The cocktail created by Chan, As Time Goes By, was inspired by the movie, Casablanca. A lot of thought went into this creation - from the type of alcohol used to, of course, the spices.
