Recently, my better half, who is an awesome painter, surprised me with a wine and paint date night.
I was initially surprised by the fact that she had scheduled it for a Monday night - she's an early to bed bird and I usually have my face in front of the computer all night doing work, researching, or I'm reading a book. But, what surprised me the most, was how much fun I had.
If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I love my wine, but I would never say I love to paint. I can most definitely say that I love paintings and the art of it, and I love surrounding myself with art (one of my closest and dearest friends is an incredibly talented painter), but I am far from being one myself.
Maybe it was the addition of wine while painting, but I had a blast that night. I started looking into it a bit more and found that wine and paint nights are an up and coming trend. Everyone and their sister is doing it (literally, because most of who I saw in photos were women with their girlfriends and sisters). But gentlemen, don't let that deter you from going - I seriously had a blast and was actually really thankful that my wife set it up on her own - because I would have knocked the idea down in a heartbeat. Thanks again, lady, I had a blast.
If you're in the Grand Rapids, MI area, check out wineandcanvas.com for the next wine and paint night. Everyone else, just type in wine and paint nights in your local area and I am sure they will pop up. Cheers.
